On the corner of streets 136 and 13 there is a typical Cambodian grilled pork and rice breakfast restaurant. It’s a relatively safe order when out in the field but I’ve never had a craving. But after hearing that this was the best in town, I was excited. Unfortunately, with the build up, it was a let down. Decent rice and pork but nothing that made it stand out from any other restaurant in Phnom Penh or out in the Provinces. It’s really just rice and grilled pork. Not particularly amazing pork, no special sauce, Cambodian white rice; that’s it. Along with the pork and rice, diners receive a small bowl of broth and a dish of pickled vegetables. The broth was also nothing to write home about, salty and hot, but a nice contrast to the sweet pork, as well as adding another flavor option for the rice. The pickled vegetables were a showstopper though; carrots, cucumbers, and jicama all mildly pickled with a sweet tang and light crunch. I could have eaten everyone’s serving.

Watami Japanese Dining Cambodia
Watami as enjoyable and sophisticated Japanese causal restaurants at reasonable prices with friendly services.
The key concept of Watami’s overseas business expansion propositions “a mirror to rich and enjoyable home dining” for enjoyment in both time and place. In an atmosphere of a difference, you can enjoy leisurely and sophisticated time.
Not just “wine” or “dine”, they present the refreshing Ishokuya concept dining experience.

Lemongrass Restaurant, Phnom Penh
Lemongrass is a narrow indoor restaurant with an intimate feel.
A higher-class Thai restaurant with a fair selection of Khmer classics. The prices are pretty reasonable given the look of the place. The Thai foods taste is nice. But I do not like the desserts of Sticky Rice with Mango which they are making not good enough.
Som Tam, spicy green papaya salad
Tom Yum Goong, fragrant lemongrass soup with shrimp
Nam Prik Kapi, shrimp paste dip served with steamed vegetables
Meang, wrap it with rice paper spring rolls with chicken, vegetables and seasoning
Sticky Rice with Mango, sliced mango with sticky rice and coconut cream
Bordor Lapeau, sweet pumpkin pudding in warm coconut cream

Nan Yang Coffee Shop, Segamat
The best coffee shop in Segamat. It’s called Nan Yang Coffee
Shop which is located in the town centre. They served the usual coffee shop
dishes like kuih, nasi lemak, roti bakar, mee hoon and coffee. You can feel
that you are in the 60’s when you step into the shop as the ambiance down to
the decoration and kitchen utensils are so nostalgic.
The half boiled eggs a bit disappointed as it was over
boiled as they are still using the conventional way of cooking it without the
filter, so time control is very crucial. The toast with kaya is nice and not to
sweet, there is also butter which is melted into the toast, delicious.
